Volleyball

Youth volleyball is a highly technical sport in which children learn to hit the ball, control it with precision, and coordinate team movements. Unlike other team sports, volleyball involves no physical contact, and every action depends on cooperation and communication among players.

The activity is structured progressively: first, mini-volleyball is practiced, then it progresses to forms closer to the real game, always with adapted rules. It is an optimal activity for developing hand-eye coordination, communication, and spatial awareness.

Objectives

Technical objectives

  • Learn and master the three basic actions: serve, reception, and pass.
  • Improve ball control with hands and forearms.
  • Work on body positioning for receiving, passing, and hitting.

Tactical objectives

  • Understand the basic rotation system.
  • Learn the importance of space occupation and coverage.
  • Learn to collaborate in successive actions: reception → set → attack.
  • Develop offensive and defensive communication (“Mine!”, “Up”, “Short”).

Methodology

Training Methodology

  • Coordinative warm-up: displacement exercises, jumps, and reflex games.
  • Analytical technique: controlled repetitions of movements (serve, finger pass).
  • Global technique: 1×1, 2×2, 3×3 games where technique is applied in a real context.
  • Progression programs: first mini-volleyball (1 contact), then 2 contacts, finally 3.
  • Modified games with adapted rules to facilitate learning.

Pedagogical methodology

  • Learning in pairs: ball control and immediate feedback.
  • Role rotation: everyone participates in reception, setting, and attacking.
  • Communication dynamics: using clear signals or words to improve complicity.
