The Municipal Office of Sports for Everyone (OMET) has updated and unified the Physical Activities for Adults and Seniors programs into a single project for the 2025-2026 academic year. The proposal includes the new Cuida’t program, which replaces the Seniors program, and the Activa’t and Fes Esport programs, which replace the Adults program.
The update of these programs, which until now were developed separately, will allow users to participate in all municipal sports proposals, with the aim of continuing to improve their health, physical condition, and personal relationships. For this 2025-2026 academic year, there are a total of 1,444 occupied places, 879 registrations, and 85 groups offered, 20 more than in the previous year.
Núria Escamilla, Sports Councillor: “The City Council ensures that all citizens have the necessary conditions to develop healthy habits. Our city already has an environment and a network of entities and clubs that encourage and actively work towards this, but we are aware that many people are still not involved. OMET is a key tool to ensure that sports reach everyone, without exclusion and with an inclusive and accessible vision. Our goal is for physical activity and sports to be a reality for all groups: children and young people through school sports, people with functional diversity through adapted sports, and also adults and seniors, who find a source of well-being and coexistence. We recognize and defend the multiple physical and emotional benefits of sports practice and reaffirm our commitment to continue working to make sports a right and an opportunity available to all citizens.”
With this sports offering, OMET also aims to promote an active life in a safe and social environment, with adapted exercises such as yoga, Pilates, walking, and strength training. As every year, regardless of the physical activity undertaken, registrations can be made without the need to pay a registration fee, and discounts are also applied for those over 65, pensioners, large and single-parent families, and long-term unemployed individuals.
Jordi Tomàs, Director of OMET: “We have unified the two existing programs into a single one. Everyone can register for any group within the program, which also introduces a change in terminology. We are seeking to update the program to make it more attractive. ”
Cuida’t, Activa’t, and Fes Esport Programs
The Cuida’t program is aimed at adults and seniors who seek to focus on self-care. The proposal includes gentle and conscious physical activity, focused on physical and emotional well-being, such as physical conditioning, Latin rhythms, yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Qigong, mobility and body awareness, and Nordic walking. These are also inclusive activities that can be performed by people with reduced mobility or neurological conditions.
The Activa’t program promotes dynamic and accessible physical activity to stay in shape in a familiar and local environment. It is aimed at adults who want to adapt the intensity to their pace, resume exercise, and challenge themselves, with proposals close to their neighborhood. The program includes activities such as physical conditioning, Zumba, Pilates, and yoga.
The Fes Esport program is aimed at adults with previous experience who are looking for moderate-to-high intensity sports challenges, want to improve their performance, and enjoy activities with a recreational component without competing. This program includes activities such as running, multi-sports, badminton, and padel, which take place at the ZEM Rambla del Celler and Sala Canigó during morning hours, and at public schools during afternoons, outside of school hours.
